Millwoods Maternity Care Clinic has moved to a new location in the Mill Woods Professional Building.
The Millwoods Maternity Care Clinic provides comprehensive prenatal care, delivery (at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital), post-partum and newborn care for low-risk maternity patients and their infants. Our physicians endeavor to provide holistic care within the scope of low-risk, family practice obstetrics.
You may be referred to the clinic by another physician or, in some circumstances, you may be able to self-refer. You may call the clinic and ask for Cherlynn; she will be happy to provide you with further information. If you are unsure whether our program is the best fit for you, you may wish to book a discussion appointment with one of the physicians who can advise you further. Office visits will be with the same physician as often as possible, so that one physician can get to know you and your medical issues well.
Meet the Doctor Night
We have a meet-the-doctor night every three months on the second Monday of every third month so you can meet the physicians ahead of time. This meeting is open to all of our current prenatal patients and partners. Please note that the physicians have a meeting beforehand and that doors do not open until 7:30pm. The physicians will be available to answer general questions. We hope to see you there!

Meet in the Auditorium in the basement of the Grey Nuns Community Hospital
Prenatal Visits – The typical initial visit is at 6-12 weeks gestational age and usually includes a comprehensive history, complete physical and counselling regarding various aspects of pregnancy. This visit may occur later in your pregnancy if your family physician or midwife is providing your early prenatal care. This appointment is usually booked as a longer appointment. Visits then take place approximately every 4 weeks until 30 weeks gestation. Visits then typically occur every 2 weeks until 36 weeks gestational age whereupon patients are seen weekly until delivery.
Postnatal Visits – These occur at 1-2 weeks and at 6-7 weeks postpartum. Child bearer and baby are usually seen at both visits. Infant growth, caregiver well-being, birth control and various other issues are addressed at these visits. The 6-7 week postpartum visit sometimes includes a pelvic examination so may be booked for a longer appointment. We are now offering intrauterine device insertion post delivery for our postpartum patients.
Discussion Visit – These visits may be booked in order to discuss various pregnancy/postpartum concerns or complications. If you feel that you could benefit from some additional discussion time with a physician, call and let the receptionist know that you would like to book a discussion visit (short or long).
Hospital Care includes prenatal assessment as required, obstetrical referral as required, delivery and infant care. We would be happy to explain aspects of hospital care in greater detail during office visits. Please note that we cannot guarantee that a specific doctor will be able to attend your delivery. Rather, the physician who is on call at the time will attend your delivery.
